I have wooden floorboards in my property; can I still have a wetroom?Wetroom systems can be fitted in timber and concrete floors. At Concept Designs we take advantage of a wide range of tanking systems from several manufacturers to ensure we use the perfect system for your application.
-
Is it possible to fit a wetroom in my basement?Yes. Wetrooms can be fitted below the height of the existing household drainage by combining the correct trap with a drain pump system. We can fit a wetroom floor as much as 10m below the existing accessible waste height.
-
What if the wetroom leaks? At Concept Designs we guarantee all our workmanship. The key to having a watertight installation is by having it fitted by competent, experienced professionals. In over 15 years of wetroom installation, we have not had a wetroom system fail. Our full public liability insurance also gives our customers further peace mind.
-
Do I need to maintain my wetoom?Apart from occasionally checking and cleaning out the hair trap; most of our wetroom systems are completely maintenance free. Only should you decide to fit a natural stone product would you have to maintain its waterproofing qualities by applying impregnator sealant once a year. We would be happy to provide a maintenance service in this instance if so required however it is a very simple process which most of our customers are happy to do themselves. We do of course apply at least two applications of sealer to the product on installation which leaves the stone maintenance free for the first year.
-
Do I need to leave access to the trap in my wet floor? No. All our traps can easily be cleaned by simply removing the cover grating on top.
-
Will my wet floor be slippery under foot?In most applications, we would recommend specific tiles which have a non-slip surface for your wet floor, most of which have a European Standard and slip rating. We would be happy to advise which tiles best suit your needs and further anti-slip treatments can be provided should you have any concerns. It is possible to fit highly polished floor tiles and have them treated with an anti-slip agent. All of this would be discussed during your free consultation.
-
How can I keep my wetroom floor dry?At Concept Designs we strongly recommend that any tiled wet floor be fitted with an underfloor heat mat. These can be fitted under any of your chosen tiles. Not only do these heat the room itself but they also dry the floor usually within 20 minutes, subject to ventilation. We believe that a heat mat is the perfect way to maintain your wetroom’s durability and longevity as well as being toasty on your toes!

How much does a wetroom, bathroom or kitchen system cost?We provide an all-inclusive service and generally do a full room renovation - the starting cost is inclusive of indicative costs for mid-end ranges of sanitaryware, brassware, furniture and tiles and includes the supply and installation all materials, down lights, an inline fan and, in the case of wetrooms, underfloor heating. Full bathroom/shower rooms start at £15,000 (on average circa £18,000), with wetrooms starting at £17,000 (our average is usually around £20,000). Kitchens start at around £20,000 (our average is circa £30-40,000). The final cost is of course dependent on the specification of your chosen materials and the amount of preparation work required to deliver the perfect fit and finish. I don’t necessarily want a wet floor in my new bathroom, can you still help?"Yes, of course. At Concept Designs, we are perfectly happy to install traditional bathroom suites to the same high standards as those we use when installing wetrooms.
